2.5m SDSS telescope at APO

Five filter curves - including detector response - for the SDSS camera. Clearly, the g, r, i filters provide the highest S/N ratio images.

Filters layered above CCDs. The telescope is moved so that the field moves from left to right, generating 5 strips, with the object spending 54 seconds under each filter.

Filter layout. The additional CCDs below and above are for astrometry -- ultimately giving 0.1 arcsec astrometric accuracy.
