Condensation in Stellar Winds

Cat's Eye planetary nebula (post AGB star dusty wind)

Young massive star Eta Carina, also with dusty wind

V and K light curves for a Nova Vulpeculae 1976. About 50 days after outburst, dust forms which absorbes the V light and emits the K light.

HR diagram shows when star atmospheres are cool enough to form dust.
