As with the other figures, time is shown linearly, with redshift and age labelled on the left and right of the vertical line. To the left are familiar distances out into the universe, such as well known quasars, the various galaxy redshift surveys, and the distance limit of the HDF. To the right are familiar events, starting with aspects of galaxy formation and ending with the development of life on earth.
